Would you join us in prayer?
It’s evident the disciples saw that prayer was integral to the life of Jesus. Why can we be so sure? Well the only thing they asked him to teach them to do was to pray (Luke 11:1). Jesus responds,
“When you pray, say:
Hallowed be your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on Earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.” (Matthew 6:9-13 & Luke: 11:2-4)
The words above are known as the 'Lord’s Prayer’. It’s a prayer that has been prayed by many over thousands of years, in and through all kinds of situations.
It’s in this vein that we wish to ask you to join with us in prayer every day as we pray The Lords Prayer together. Would you find a way to remind yourself to pray the Lord's Prayer at a regular but convenient time for you to pray? You could use a post-it note or a reminder in your phone.
Though scattered across the city of Birmingham, this will help us all unite in prayer each day. For us all to ask God's agenda to take priority in our workplaces, schools, colleges and streets. For us all to forgive those who have hurt us. For us all to ask God to lead us away from temptations and evil and for us all to seek God first.
