Get involved with Christians Against Poverty

A Letter from Judy Ward:

Hello all,

It was a great joy for me to visit CLC on Sunday.

Thank you for your interest in CAP and coming to chat to me.  I would LOVE you to support our wonderful CAP clients in whatever way is right for you.

Volunteers evening: To find out lots about CAP's vision and the work in Birmingham at this event.  You can listen and ask all your questions here.

WHEN?  Friday 29th June at 7.30pm

WHERE?  Central House, 13 Ravenhurst Street, Digbeth, B12 0HD (this is the offices of Churchcentral, the church which supports one of the other Birmingham debt centres)

I will be there and look out for you if you let me know you're coming.  There will be volunteers from the 3 local CAP debt centres: Birmingham South (us), Birmingham West (manager Owen O'Brien), Oldbury (manager Sarah Jordan).

Visit a client with Judy: A first visit to a client takes a maximum of 3 hours.  While I'm busy looking through client's paperwork and ringing creditors, your role is to be the 'normal' one! - chatting, encourging, being yourself.  If you don't understand something, just ask because it is likely to help the client to understand.  I need people to come with me on these visits.  Please let me know if you can and I will be in touch and finalise details.

Wednesday 23/05 man or woman (clients are a couple) - meet at 9.10am

Wednesday 04/07 woman - meet at 9.10am

Wednesday 11/07 man - meet at 9.10am

I usually meet volunteers at Selly Park Baptist Church, 1041 Pershore Road, B29 7PS (on the corner of Pershore Road and Selly Park Road, next to Selly Park Technology College) and then I drive us to the client's and back.

Prayer time: We meet to pray for our clients once a month.  We meet at 7.45pm and finish at 9pm.

Tuesday 12th June, 7.45pm, Selly Park Baptist Church, 1041 Pershore Road, B29 7PS

Tuesday 10th July, 7.45pm, St Stephens, Serpentine Road, B29 7HU

I'm looking forward to seeing you soon,

Best wishes,

Judy Ward,
